Cool Factor: Be Yourself, or Someone Like You

Friday night – taking in It’s Kind of a Funny Story and I gotta say, there’s something inspiring about learning to love who you are.

Selby x Pharrell

What happens when you mix one of the best beat-makers with one of the best photographers?

Check out the results of The Selby’s shoot with Pharrell Williams.

Perhaps no one other person has had a bigger influence on your ears than Pharrell.  Half of the producing duo The Neptunes, Pharrell has helped shape everything from 1992’s Wreckx-N-Effect’s “Rump Shaker” to performing The Beatles’ “I saw her standing there” with Sting , Dave Matthews & Vince Gill at the Grammy’s.

From producing, collaborating and mixing in fashion in between – Pharrell Wiliams, like The Selby, is in your place.

Sure, fall is just into the swing of things – but there are some days/times in which you just need some summer.  That’s what I love about this Real Estate track, Out of Tune.

It just sounds like what you’d listen to while rowing an 8 ft. aluminum boat – like you see above.

Fine Listen: The King Bucks

The King Bucks are a Dallas-based band that does rock-a-billy and traditional country right.  No affliction t-shirts or overly spiked hair.  Just soulful licks and lyrics.  Straight Texas.  And we dig that.

Check them out in Dallas (or other great cities in the South) and pick up their 10 track album from their site,

Weekend Video: Romance x May x December

This video may be a college kid’s attempt to get a message cross-country to his girlfriend, who recently enrolled in a school on the opposite coast.

Or, that may be marketing flub spoken by a creative visionary.

Whatever the story behind Mr. May and this video, we like.
